Shubh Saran
Podcast Audio Editor
I'm a Brooklyn-based producer, podcast editor, and mix engineer with 10+ years of experience and a deep passion for audio. I’ve worked on everything from narrative political shows to high-profile interviews, offering editing, mixing, and production consulting. Below are some selected projects.
Logic Pro X | Pro Tools | Descript | Final Cut Pro | iZotope
Mike Birbiglia's Working it Out (podcast)
Audio editor & mix engineer
2021 - present
For the past three years, I've been the mix engineer & audio editor for award winning comedian Mike Birbiglia's podcast. Each week Mike welcomes a different comedian or creator and together they work out original, untested material.
I edit each episode for clarity and pacing, cutting between microphones, removing stumbles and micro-editing plosives, clicks & pops using Pro Tools AudioSuite plug-ins. I then add and mix music cues in the intro, outro & ad breaks created by Jack Antonoff (Taylor Swift, The Bleachers). Using a combination of compressors, EQ, iZotope RX plug-ins including a de-noiser & de-mouth click, I mix & master episodes for broadcast and streaming standards. The result is a polished, professional-sounding show that enhances the listener experience and elevates the overall production quality.

"Shubh Saran is a sound editor/mixer in a league of his own. Sometimes I write in my notes “Can you smooth this out?” and I always know he will. We’ve been working with Shubh Saran on our podcast for three years and I couldn’t be happier with our collaboration."

Offstage with Shubh Saran (podcast)
Producer, host, editor, sound designer
2021 - 2022
In 2021, I created and launched my own podcast alongside the release of my album inglish. I interviewed over 30 musicians—including 5x Grammy-winning composer Antonio Sánchez and Donny McCaslin (David Bowie’s Blackstar)—exploring how identity shapes creative expression. I edited, hosted, and scored the podcast, crafting a unique sound design for each episode that reflected the themes of the conversations. The podcast grew 267% in its first six months, gaining a loyal listener base through word of mouth and thoughtful storytelling.

NatStrat Conversations (podcast)
Consulting producer
2024 - present
NatStrat is a centre for research on strategic and national security founded by high profile Indian diplomats. Last year I started consulting as a producer & sound supervisor for NatStrat's podcast. Over the course of 2 weeks in New Delhi, I was responsible in making critical updates to their recording studio & equipment.

I consulted on various aspects of the production process, including audio recording technology, YouTube naming conventions, and set design. I transitioned the team away from lavalier microphones to high quality podcast specific mics. I moved away from a digital green screen background to a modern, all black physical backdrop using lighting to highlight speakers. Each episode, I deliver notes to the team before final delivery and upload.
